WHIT Tournament

Badminton Residence Walfer is organizing its 41st international badminton tournament, which exists since 1981. During the Whitsun weekend players from Belgium, France, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and of course from Luxembourg are meeting for three days with the main aim to have fun together and of course to play badminton at a very high level and in a super atmosphere. With 16 courts, the tournament has a capacity of up to over 200 attendees. It is one of the most prestigious and oldest international tournaments in Luxembourg. Alongside a total prize money of over 5000€ will be distributed to the winners.

The wonderful surroundings around the hall in Walferdange are another highlight for the attendees, with the possibility to camp near the hall. Besides, nearby accommodations like youth hostels or hotels can be reached within a 10-15min driveway. During the whole tournament, fresh food and drinks are served at the bar.

The tournament’s program is similar each year, starting with matches in group stages on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday evening, a player’s night with barbecue, drinks and live DJ is organized in order to get to know each other and to spend a convivial moment among the attendees. The tournament comes then to an end after playing the semi-finals and finals on Monday, which ends with the award ceremony at around 4 pm.
